About Me
Christina Martos is a multidisciplinary performer whose artistry is deeply informed by her family roots in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Argentina. Born an Army brat, she proudly considers New Jersey her home state, and since 2008, she has been a resident of New Mexico where she enjoys participating in the area’s vibrant arts community.
At her core, Christina is a natural storyteller, seamlessly blending her diverse background spanning musical theater, drama, classical vocal performance, dance, and jazz vocals. This rich tapestry of experience allows her to embody a wide range of characters with authenticity and depth, bringing a unique versatility to every role.
Her recent stage highlights include appearances as Cristeta in Opera Southwest's American Premiere of Doña Clementina and as Estella in the New Mexico Premiere of Laughs in Spanish at the Santa Fe Playhouse. Other notable performances include Sophie in Terrence McNally’s Master Class (City Theater Pittsburgh, AEA), and the title role of Annina in Menotti’s The Saint of Bleecker Street (Central City Opera), directed by Catherine Malfitano. She has also appeared with the Santa Fe Playhouse in Sunday in the Park with George and the New Mexico premiere of Cebollas by Leonard Madrid (AEA).
Christina's extensive performance history also includes engagements with the Washington National Opera, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony in Miami, and the Marilyn Horne Foundation Festival at Carnegie Hall. She has performed Beethoven’s concerto for voice “Ah!, Perfido” with the Yale Philharmonic, and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the American Youth Symphony at Royce Hall in Los Angeles. Further collaborations include Montage Music Society (Santa Fe), Chamber Orchestra of the Springs (Colorado Springs), and Chatter (Albuquerque).
Christina holds music degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and the Yale School of Music. Her professional development was further honed as a resident young artist with the Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center.
